Flush had a series of tapes recorded in the mid-80s labeled simply with a number. This one is number 38 in that set. Early on in side A starts a wicked sampler-based mix by Jeff Mills featuring LL, the B Boys, heavy UTFO/Big Beat breaks, Run-DMC, and more. It’s super dope and I can imagine going nuts for this back in ’85. This mix is one of the best things I’ve found on the Flush tapes so far.
Most of these recordings likely came from Power 99 or WDAS in Philly and feature early hip-hop.
